Over the past few years, actor Dominic Flores of Laguna Niguel has tried multiple times to land a guest spot on the hit television show “Hawaii Five-0,” but he’s always come up short.
But after appearing alongside Sandra Bullock in the 2015 film “Our Brand is Crisis,” which he credits as giving him a career boost, Flores’ luck turned around.
He landed a spot on the CBS drama in an episode set to air Friday.
“To have them fly you to Hawaii is a pretty exhilarating feeling,” he said.
Flores said most of his scenes involving dialogue were filmed on the last day of shooting. He spent time learning his lines on the beach.
“Everything was really fast over there,” Flores said. “You have to be ready for things to change on a dime.”
He said he will likely watch the episode with his family at home as it’s beamed to television sets across the nation.
Flores, a native of Dana Point, spent much of his early years in Orange County before moving to Los Angeles. He moved to Laguna Niguel a few years ago after his third child was born.
“I like the family vibe,” he said. “I like having a separation of church and state, so to speak.”
In addition to picking up film and television roles, including an upcoming appearance on the Netflix romantic comedy series “Love,” Flores teaches acting at The Performers Academy in Lake Forest.
